Susan G. Komen for the Cure was established in 1982 by Nancy Brinker to honor the memory of her sister, Susan G. Komen, who died from breast cancer at the age of 36. Komen is a national organization with a network of volunteers working through local Affiliates and Race for the Cure® events fighting to eradicate breast cancer as a life threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening and treatment.
Komen is the nation's largest private funder of research solely dedicated to breast cancer. In addition to funding research, the National Grant Program and local affiliates throughout the country fund innovative breast cancer education, screening and treatment projects for the medically underserved.
The Central & Western Oklahoma Affiliate was established in 1991.

The Take Charge! Program of the Oklahoma State Department of Health is funded by a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The purpose of the funding is to:
Assure Statewide access to breast and cervical cancer screening and diagnostic services for low income/uninsured women age 50-64,
Inform eligible women of the availability of this screening service,
Provide case management support for women with abnormal screening results,
Establish and maintain a provider network for screening, diagnostic, and treatment services for low income/uninsured women.

Oklahoma Cares is a Medicaid Program for low-income, uninsured women between the ages of 19 & 65. Women who have already had an abnormal screening result for breast or cervical cancer, &/or have already been diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer. &/or have a precancerous condition. The program will cover costs of diagnosis & treatment for all eligible women.

Rx for Oklahoma provides assistance to connect individuals and families to programs offered by pharmaceutical manufacturers. Rx for Oklahoma is a referral program connecting income eligible individuals and families without prescription drug coverage with pharmaceutical companies offering free or low cost maintenance medications. Their goal is to increase awareness of these programs and serve families resulting in free medications and targeting individual patient needs.

Herland Sister Resources is an all volunteer, nonprofit, womanist organization which has provided community, cultural and musical events in Oklahoma since 1984.They publish a monthly newsletter, operate a bookstore and lending library, and host a wide array of social and educational activities Herland hosts two weekend retreats each year. Retreats are held in the spring and fall at various locations and feature workshops, outdoors activities, and live entertainment. Herland hosts additional social activities, which usually feature musicians, poets, and other artists. Also, the Herland Supper Club meets at 5:30 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month.
Bookstore and Lending Library: Our bookstore and lending library stock a substantial selection of feminist and lesbian fiction and nonfiction books. Open Saturdays and Sundays from 1pm-5pm.

The Oklahoma Foundation for Medical Quality is a not for profit, charitable and educational organization founded in Oklahoma in 1972 to advance cost effective, quality health care through evaluation, education and research. It is governed by a Board of Directors with representation from physicians, consumers, providers, organized medicine and other health care practitioners. The OFMQ is an independent, objective evaluator of health care quality and utilization in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Since 1973, OFMQ has been a federally designated peer review organization (PRO) holding contracts with the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA). By collaborating with physicians, providers and consumers on quality improvement projects, the OFMQ has become a major source of information for those who are covered by Medicare. The OFMQ has established a program to increase participation in screening mammography by Medicare Recipients.
